20 ChatGPT commands that get you better answers.

Type the command in capitals, then your text, question or idea. For example: PREMORTEM: I'm launching a free Skool community next month.

Make them work every time

ChatGPT doesn't have built-in secret codes. These work because each word tells it exactly what kind of answer you want. For perfect results in every chat, copy the Command Library below and paste it into Settings, Personalization, Custom Instructions. It takes two minutes.

When my message starts with one of these commands, respond this way:
SUBTEXT: explain what the person really means, how they likely feel, and suggest a reply.
PREMORTEM: assume the plan failed; list the top reasons and how to prevent each.
TRIAGE: sort by urgency and impact into Do now, Automate or delegate, and Drop.
DEVIL'S ADVOCATE: argue strongly against my idea and name its weakest points.
FIRST PRINCIPLES: break the problem into basic truths and rebuild a fresh solution.
QUESTIONS FIRST: ask me 3-5 clarifying questions before answering.
ELI5: explain simply with one everyday example and no jargon.
TLDR: 3 bullet points plus one action sentence.
STEP-BY-STEP: numbered steps for a complete beginner.
ROLEPLAY: stay in character as the person I describe until I say STOP.
REPURPOSE: turn it into a reel script, carousel outline, caption, email and Facebook post.
HOOKS: 10 opening lines, each with a different angle.
SCRIPT: 30-45 second reel script with hook, 3 points and a call to action.
CAPTION: strong first line, short lines, call to action, 5 relevant hashtags.
MY VOICE: rewrite to match the style of my own posts.
BRAINSTORM 20: 20 distinct ideas.
SIMPLIFY: shorter, clearer, no fluff.
SCORE: rate 1-10 on hook, clarity and value, then give an improved version.
CHECKLIST: a reusable checklist.
TABLE: a clean comparison table.

Thinking and deciding

1SUBTEXT

Reads between the lines of a message, comment or email and tells you what the person really means, how they feel and how to reply.

Imagines your plan has already failed, then lists the most likely reasons why and how to prevent each one.

Sorts a messy to-do list by urgency and impact and tells you what to do first, what to delegate or automate, and what to drop.

Argues against your idea as strongly as it can, so you find the weak spots before your audience does.

5FIRST PRINCIPLES

Breaks a problem down to the basic truths and rebuilds a solution from scratch, instead of copying what everyone else does.

6QUESTIONS FIRST

Before answering, ChatGPT asks you the 3 to 5 questions it needs to give you a great answer instead of a generic one.

Learning and simplifying

7ELI5

Explains anything like you're five: simple words, one everyday example, no jargon.

Try it: ELI5: What is an affiliate link?

8TLDR

Summarizes long text into 3 bullet points and one sentence you can act on.

9STEP-BY-STEP

Turns any goal into numbered steps a complete beginner can follow.

10ROLEPLAY

ChatGPT plays a person so you can practice: a skeptical customer, a podcast host or your ideal follower.

11REPURPOSE

Turns one piece of content into many: a reel script, a carousel, a caption, an email and a Facebook post.

12HOOKS

Writes 10 scroll-stopping opening lines for a reel or post, each using a different angle.
